Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>President Akufo-Addo has asked all institutions involved in the country\u2019s fight against corruption to critically evaluate Ghana\u2019s maiden \u201cNational Anti-Corruption Action Plan\u201d (NACAP 1).<\/b><\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at the Launch of the Evaluation of Ghana\u2019s Maiden National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP) at the Jubilee House in Accra on December 21.<\/p>\n

NACAP 1 has been in force for nearly ten years. It proposes new anti-corruption measures that will constitute the basis for NACAP 2 which will span the period 2025 to 2034.<\/p>\n

Parliament\u2019s budget went up by 100% compared to what I inherited \u2013 Akufo-Addo<\/p>\n

NACAP constitutes Ghana\u2019s national framework to drive anti-corruption activities and promote national development. It contains strategic action plans identified and agreed upon by stakeholders during a nationwide consultation exercise.<\/p>\n

The President insisted that, \u201cthere is the need to understand how the action plan has contributed to reducing corruption in the country and to make necessary adjustments to policies and institutional arrangements based on the evaluation results.\u201c<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo said \u201cevaluation is important to assess the contribution of NACAP to the fight against corruption in all spheres.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President also noted that since the fight against corruption is a shared responsibility, \u201call stakeholders must see the evaluation of the maiden NACAP and the development of NACAP 2 as their collective responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo refuted accusations that he has influenced investigations into corruption allegations against his appointees.<\/p>\n

Citing various instances of corruption allegations involving government officials, the latest being former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah, the President stressed that he has allowed mandated institutions to conduct impartial investigations, adding that \u201cno government in the fourth republic has subjected its officials to such scrutiny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, said the Ghana Statistical Service is ready to lead a broad and participatory evaluation of Ghana\u2019s maiden NACAP, mobilize resources and stimulate interest to develop NACAP 2.<\/p>\n
