Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed the Women\u2019s Premier League games involving reigning champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC.<\/b><\/p>\n

This move follows a devastating fire that engulfed the club\u2019s hostel in Techiman, Bono East Region, on Friday, December 22. The fire not only impacted Ampem Darkoa Ladies but also affected players from another women\u2019s team, Fosu Ladies, who shared the accommodation.<\/p>\n

The fire resulted in the loss of several properties valued at thousands of Ghana Cedis, marking what the club referred to as a \u201ctough\u201d day, labelling it \u2018Black Friday.\u2019 Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC expressed resilience despite the setback, aiming to return \u201cstronger.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to the unfortunate incident, the GFA\u2019s Competitions Department has officially announced the postponement of Ampem Darkoa Ladies\u2019 Matchday 8 and 9 fixtures against Tamale Super Ladies and Kumasi Sports Academy, respectively.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the outstanding game against Northern Ladies has also been deferred \u201cuntil further notice.\u201d The GFA assured that new dates for these postponed matches would be communicated at a later time.<\/p>\n

Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, having clinched the Ghana Women\u2019s Premier League title last season, made their continental debut as they represented the country at the 2023 CAF Women\u2019s Champions League in Ivory Coast, where they finished fourth.<\/p>\n
