Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Ghana\u2019s Black Stars will begin their preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by setting up camp in Johannesburg, South Africa next week Sunday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The team will spend 10 days in South Africa, during which they will play a friendly match against Botswana on January 8, 2024, before heading to Abidjan, Ivory Coast for the AFCON, which runs from January 13 to February 11, 2024.<\/p>\n

During their ten-day stay in South Africa, the Black Stars will engage in a friendly match against Botswana on January 8, 2024, serving as a crucial part of their preparations before making their way to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, for the highly anticipated AFCON, scheduled from January 13 to February 11, 2024.<\/p>\n

Head coach Chris Hughton aims to fine-tune the team\u2019s strategy, and as part of this process, training sessions in Johannesburg will be closed to the public and media. The provisional squad, barring the injured Kamaldeen Sulemana and Tariq Lamptey, who remains unavailable as per Brighton\u2019s assessment of his injury status, will assemble in Johannesburg before the final squad announcement on January 3.<\/p>\n

Placed in Group B, alongside formidable opponents Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique, the Black Stars are gearing up for intense group stage battles. Their campaign kicks off against Cape Verde on January 14, followed by a face-off with Egypt on January 18, and concluding the group stage against Mozambique on January 22, 2024.<\/p>\n
