Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Newage Agric Solutions Limited, in partnership with Evivi rice, has organized a Christmas party for the children of Mepe, one of the worst hit communities of the Akosombo dam spillage, to help them through their trying moments.<\/b><\/p>\n

It was a day of dance, music performances and drama by the kids interspersed with performances from some artiste from the Volta Region. Of course, once it was a party, there was plenty of food as well, to feed every child that was present, and enough gifts for every child.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the gathering, the CEO of Newage Agric Solutions Limited, William Kottey explained this is the company\u2019s way of helping the children to smile again.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, as Newage and its group of companies, we\u2019re are here to have a Christmas party with the children of Mepe. We decided that instead of doing our Christmas party in Accra, we should put some smiles on the faces of the children of this community who have gone through some tough times. Because as you all know, it\u2019s been a tough year for them after the flooding as a result of the opening of the Aksosombo dam,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

According to him, this is a follow up to the support \u2013 cash and clothing as well as bags of our Evivi rice \u2013 they gave to Mepe during their low moments when their communities were completely submerged by flood waters.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, we believe that once we\u2019re in the Christmas season, we can still put some smiles back on their faces. That\u2019s why you can see that almost everyone who works with us is here serving the children, and interacting with them to help them feel awesome during this period,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Mr. William Kotey says this is the little the company, adjudged as the CIMG Agric Marketing Company of the Year 2022, can do to support the children and the entire people of Mepe during the yuletide.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe we can try as much as possible to do more, and we will definitely do more. This is just our widow\u2019s mite in trying to put smiles on the faces of the children of Mepe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

More support for Mepe<\/b><\/p>\n

By way of the company\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility activities, Mr. Kotey revealed that Newage Agric Solutions Limited has decided to help renovate the Mepe Presby JHS classroom block, which he said came across as one that hasn\u2019t seen any renovation in years.<\/p>\n

He explained that whilst walking around the school, he met a teacher who enumerated the challenges confronting the school; from lack of teachers to lack of infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got touched and asked him what their immediate need is, and he said they want to paint the school and fix the leaking roofing too. Once they said they were going to appeal for fund, I decided that Newage will take it upon ourselves to paint the classrooms immediately. Subsequently they can raise funds and we will support immensely so that we can give a facelift to the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs far as we farm in the neighbourhood, we\u2019re obliged to offer support to the community. Some of the farmers in the area are part of our program, and they have helped us to increase rice production so it makes sense to be able to help their children as well. So we will keep supporting the community as much as we can,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Mankralo of Mepe, Togbe Korsi Nego appreciated Newage for their kind gesture towards the children of Mepe in these trying times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very happy you are here with us today. We are happy because of the thought you have for our children. Our children have gone through so much during this short period. It is not only the parents who are going through the difficulty that the floods have brought to us. Even though you can see joy on their faces, they are also going through a lot because most of them don\u2019t have places to sleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that this party will make them forget some of the pains that they have gone through. We thank you so much for your help and support. We wish that you can come back again next year so that you can give them another round of partying,\u201d he requested.<\/p>\n
