Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta has given his team at the Ministry a pat on the back by describing them as brilliant and resilient.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr Ofori-Atta says he is humbled to be leading such a team.<\/p>\n

The Finance Minister said this when he joined the staff of the Ministry in thanksgiving for God\u2019s mercy and preservation in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am assured that the Lord will continue to lead and guide us in 2024,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He stressed \u201cOur testimony is indeed victory on every side! Humbled to be leading the brilliant and resilient team at the Ministry of Finance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Ofori-Atta earlier noted that, by dint of hard work the government had turned the corner relative to the economic challenges when it successfully completed the first review of the 3-year $3 billion International Monetary Fund External Credit Facility (IMF-ECF) programme.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe turned the corner when we completed the IMF first review,\u201d he told Parliament while presenting the 2024 budget statement on Wednesday, November 15.<\/p>\n

He further assured that the government was poised to \u201cmaintain stability and keep growing and ensure increased growth, currency stability.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe turned the corner when inflation started declining from 54 1 in December to 35.2 in October 2023, he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recovery is indeed real and is here to stay,\u201d he further assured.<\/p>\n

Mr Ofori-Atta further stated that the prompt deployment of strong fiscal and monetary policy measures since the last year as well as in the first half of 2023 largely accounts for the continued economic recovery that is being experienced.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far, growth in 2023 has been more resilient than expected, inflation has declined in line with the fundamentals, the fiscal and external balances have improved, and the exchange rate has stabilised,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
