Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>President Akufo-Addo has eulogized the late Enoch Teye Mensah.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a tribute to the memory of the former member of the Council of State at the final funeral rites held at the fore court of the State House, the President described E.T. Mensah as a good friend of his.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a warm, generous, gregarious man with a keen intellect and wonderful sense of humour. In his element, you could find no better company, and he was a good source of advice for me as President of the Republic. I have lost a good friend, Ghana has lost a worthy patriot,\u201d President Akufo-Addo wrote.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cThe death of a friend of long standing brings up so many emotions \u2013 grief, sense of loss, sadness, reflections on friendship, reminiscences on a generation, the stark reality of mortality, the prospects of eternity, the presence of the Living God. These feelings are fully present in me when I contemplate the sad passing of Enoch Teye Mensah.\u201d<\/p>\n

Biography of the late E.T. Mensah<\/p>\n

He continued that, \u201cE.T, as he was affectionately referred to by all and sundry, and I entered Parliament together for the first time in January 1997, on different sides of the House. Despite this, we became very good friends right till the very end. As a result of holding several portfolios in several PNDC\/NDC Governments, he became well-known for his association with Ghana sports, particularly the development of Ghana football. He dutifully served the people of Ningo-Prampram as Member of Parliament for five (5) consecutive terms, and was elected, during my second term as President, to the high position of Member of the Council of State in 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n

The void he has left is immeasurable \u2013 E.T. Mensah\u2019s wife says in a tribute<\/p>\n

The President therefore prayed for the repose of E.T. Mensah\u2019s soul, \u201cMy wife, Rebecca, the First Lady, an indigene of Ningo, and I extend our deepest condolences to his widow, Loriet, his children, his family, the National Democratic Congress, the Chiefs and people of Ningo-Prampram, the Council of State and the people of Ghana on this sad loss. May the Good Lord bless his soul, and give him a peaceful place of abode in His Bosom until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall all meet again. Amen!!\u201d<\/p>\n
