Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim in the Western Region, Dr Prince Hamid Armah, has chronicled several programmes and projects he has undertaken for the past three years and is using them as basis for his re-election.<\/b><\/p>\n

He groups these remarkable achievements under three categories. They are education, entrepreneurship and jobs, health services delivery and social infrastructure, insisting that he should be judged \u201con these, and I have no doubt that I will score distinction\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake education, and my footprints are all over the constituency. A new six-unit classroom block with a six-seater toilet at Whindo, 2-unit ultramodern KG, 6-unit classroom block and 12-seater toilet at Asakae, another ultramodern KG, 6-unit classroom block and 12-seater toilet, 2-unit KG block at Apremdo, 6-unit classroom block at Anaji and 2-KG block at Apremdo barracks. I also worked on the Kwesimintsim Freeman Methodist KG.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhiles some are completed, others, are at significant stages of completion. Unfortunately, I could not get land to provide the intended school block for Adientem. Nonetheless, I have assured the Chief that once he can get land, I will build a school for Adientem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foundational education is critical for the future progress of any student, \u201cthis is why, I have strived to offer the KG\u2019s and with modern learning enablers,\u201d as a result \u201cthe Municipal Education Directorate believes for foundational education infrastructure, Kwesimintsim has enough\u201d, therefore his next concentration will be secondary schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently, I have worked to ensure significant improvement at the Takoradi Senior High School library. Plans are afoot to do more,\u201d he assured his constituents when he launched his campaign ahead of the NPP parliamentary primaries on Saturday, January 27.<\/p>\n

He insisted: \u201cMy detractors will argue that all these are assembly projects, so I cannot claim them. What my detractors should know is that I have to be running from one ministry to the other, justifying why Kwesimintsim needs this and that amidst continued lobbying before such projects can come. Besides, what is the role of an MP, and why do we even elect them in the first place if it is not to, among many functions, lobby for projects for the constituency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the infrastructure and other forms of renovations, Dr Prince Hamid Armah has also presented thousands of educational materials, including textbooks, exercise books, computers, desks and tables for the education directorate for onward distribution to schools in the constituency.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an educationist, I believe in the power of education, therefore my contributions. Currently, two students from Kwesimintsim are out of the country for further studies. As I speak now, there are over 200 students at various levels whose school fees I am catering for, and there is evidence for each. This kind of investment will yield significantly, not now but in some years.\u201d<\/p>\n

In terms of entrepreneurship and job creation, Dr Prince Hamid Armah has used his foundation \u2013 Prince Armah Foundation \u2013 to help hundreds of young people, some of whom had sat at home for years after completing school.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have also helped over 100 people in Kwesimintsim to get jobs at various places. Some I have helped with startups.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the aid of a projector, Dr Prince Hamid Armah showed pictures of every single program and project he has undertaken for the past three years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a researcher, I believe evidence is everything, so I have provided evidence of everything I have done for the past three years, and I have shown where they are, and you can go and verify. I am doing this to demonstrate to Kwesimentsim that I have been working for them. I believe that is why they sent me to parliament, and I consider that my number one priority.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey may not see me every day. I may not be showing up everywhere in the constituency, but I can assure Kwesimintsim that I am working, and I want them to see my vision and for us to join hands together for this forward march.\u201d<\/p>\n
