Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Brother of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, Dr. Cadman Mills, has responded to request for the late President’s autopsy report by a section of the maternal family, 11 years after his death.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a tweet, Dr. Cadman Mills said \u201cThe (legitimate) family can obtain a copy from 37 [Military Hospital] to do with as it pleases.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described the request as \u201cstale news\u201d and said a family representative was present when the autopsy was carried out years ago.<\/p>\n

The Kyedomhene of Ekumfi Asaman, Nana Enyimfua III during a visit to the President on Saturday urged the presidency to facilitate the release of the autopsy report after raising concerns that they were yet to receive the report after 11 years of the late President’s demise.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur biggest problem as a family is that ever since I was enstooled as queen mother, I have not seen any autopsy report in the family. That is the biggest problem I have with the family, because if someone asks me what killed him I won’t know if the doctor said he broke his arm or his neck or drank something.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we plead with you and the government that the family needs the autopsy report, so that in future when I am no more queen mother, posterity will learn from it. Because no child from the family knows what killed the late former President not to talk about me the queen mother in the family. So, I plead with you on behalf of the family, before you leave office, let us get the autopsy report,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The President, in responding to the request said it is a legitimate demand by the family.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur late former President was my friend, I knew him way back in Legon, we were at Legon together the same year at the Legon Hall.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can’t understand why up till now you haven’t received the autopsy report. It should be part of the official documentation, and it should be part of the public record.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have to find out how to proceed on that, but it is a legitimate demand for wanting to have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prof Atta Mills died on July 24, 2012, at the 37 Military Hospital three days after his 68th birthday.<\/p>\n
