Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency Lydia Seyram Alhassan has assured all and sundry, especially party faithfuls, of retaining the seat in the 2024 elections.<\/b><\/p>\n

She maintained that this can only be achieved in unity and togetherness.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne person cannot do it alone and that is the reason the Polling Stations [Electoral College] was expanded,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Madam Seyram Alhassan said this on Friday, January 26 when she was acclaimed as the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n

This follows the disqualification of Samuel Owusu Amankwa, who had wanted to contest the First Deputy Majority Whip.<\/p>\n

As per the party’s constitution, she was to be acclaimed as an unopposed candidate.<\/p>\n

The event at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Shiashie attracted several party officers including the Greater Accra Region Chairman, Divine Otoo Agorhom, and Regional Organiser Prince Obeng.<\/p>\n

Mr Otoo Agorhom called for unity, urging the disqualified candidate and his supporters to come on board for the task ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need all of them,\u201d he stressed. \u201cThis cannot be a victory for Maa Lydia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two officials of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) \u2013 Ruth Arthur and Lydia Egyir \u2013 supervised the acclamation.<\/p>\n

Per the outcome, Madam Seyram Alhassan will come face-to-face again with John Setor Dumelo in the contest as to who becomes MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency from January 7, 2025.<\/p>\n
