Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Ghana Standards Authority has trained and ushered in about 200 trading standards inspectors under the standard partnership programme with the British Standards Institution to help enforce standards nationwide.<\/b><\/p>\n

The primary objective of this initiative is to reinforce the enforcement of standards across the nation.<\/p>\n

Director-General of Ghana Standards Authority, Professor Alex Dodoo in his address to the media after a certificate presentation ceremony to honor the new inspectors noted that the trained inspectors are strategically positioned to play a pivotal role in guaranteeing that both imported and domestically produced goods adhere to standardized regulations.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst and foremost, Ghana has Africa\u2019s first trading standards inspectors in most of the areas we have mentioned. That means that, goods and services in Ghana, factories operating in Ghana, products and activities within Ghana, within the scope of inspection that we have trained the people will be expected to be of world-class quality provided that the inspectors do the work that they should do and we are convinced they will do it.\u201d Prof. Dodoo asserted.<\/p>\n

Stakeholders argued that the collaboration marks a concerted effort to elevate the overall quality assurance framework within the country.<\/p>\n

The Ghana standards authority boss also stated that his outfit is expected to pick up a lot more sub-standards and counterfeit products as a result of the works of these inspectors.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWe expect industry to work according to the best of international practices. If all these things come together, the end result is that Ghanaian industries and Ghanaian companies will have a bigger share of the market \u2013 would make more profit and ultimately, Ghanaian consumers will get good quality goods and services at affordable prices.\u201d<\/p>\n
