Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>A Professor at the University of Ghana, Ransford Gyampo has said one cannot be one of the loudest critics of the current government and suddenly make the case for its remnants to be given hearing when things are growing from bad to worse.<\/b><\/p>\n

He was replying to a comment made by Vice President of IMANI Africa Kofi Bentil on Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/p>\n

Mr Bentil had indicated that Dr Bawumia should be given the chance to be president of Ghana. He said he does not doubt that Dr Bawumia will be a better president.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post, Mr Bentil, also a private legal practitioner said \u201cEvery man deserves a fair hearing. We gave President Mahama a chance to be President, the least we can do is give Dr Bawumia a fair and objective hearing.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is not President, and has never been President! I have no doubt he will be better! The VP position in Ghana, apart from standing in when the president is away (and he can\u2019t make any serious decisions), it is totally powerless! he is like an advisor! There\u2019s a good reason Kwame Nkrumah refused to have a Vice President! Indeed the Minister of finance has more constitutional power than the VP in managing our finances and the EMT has zero power to effect its decisions. They advise the President who acts through his ministers!\u201d<\/p>\n

But in a Facebook post responding to him, Prof Gyampo said \u201cDear Sir, you cannot be one of the loudest critics of this regime and suddenly make the case for its remnants to be given hearing when things are growing from bad to worse. A smarter strategy could have been used. This one is outmoded at birth!\u201d<\/p>\n
