Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Executive Officer of Leyden Educational Consultancy, Dr. James Owusu, is advocating for institutions and policymakers to incorporate digital literacy into Ghana\u2019s national curriculum.<\/b><\/p>\n

He wants digital skills training to be an integral part of the curriculum to help promote digital literacy and equally encourage students to think outside the box whilst exploring new ways of solving problems.<\/p>\n

Dr. James Owusu, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of \u2018 Studentpreneur Africa\u2019 Festival at University of Ghana on Thursday February 15, maintained that digital literacy programmes will enable students to acquire the necessary skills to effectively use digital resources.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that incorporating digital literacy into the curriculum, will offer countless tools and platforms for student\u2019s as well as keeping them updated with changing technologies, and become global digital citizens.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to teach the students not only how to use technology but also how to use it responsibly, ethically, and safely.<\/p>\n

And this could only be possible when government champions digital literacy in schools and provides training and resources to both students and educators, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

The educational consultant, also underscored the need for students to recognize that social media is not just a means of entertainment, but also a powerful tool for business growth.<\/p>\n

He challenged them to take advantage of social media by harnessing the potential of e-commerce and content creation to establish themselves as entrepreneurs and influencers in their chosen fields.<\/p>\n
