Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Ghana\u2019s Vice President and presidential candidate for the ruling government, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has met with celebrated British actor Idris Elba to foster a digitisation agenda for Ghana\u2019s creative sector.<\/b><\/p>\n

The talks focused primarily on financial inclusion and digitisation amongst Ghanaian creative arts and devising strategies for integration.<\/p>\n

The two want Ghana\u2019s creative arts economy to be linked to the worldwide financial ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Vice President Dr Bawumia stated in a post on Facebook, amongst other things, that \u201cour focus was on the financial inclusion of Ghanaian creative arts and devising strategies to integrate them into the worldwide financial ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Vice President, many African industry players are locked out of the global payments ecosystem, indicating that the \u201cimplementation of a new system leveraging blockchain technology\u201d to assist creatives cannot be overemphasized.<\/p>\n

This, he noted, will ensure that the Ghanaian creative arts get paid for their music and arts, no matter where in the world they are used commercially.<\/p>\n

Dr Bawumia therefore hinted at an imminent launch of the payment ecosystem in Ghana later this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven Ghana\u2019s relatively advanced system of digital payments, the new system is expected to be launched in Ghana later this year. My thanks to Idris Elba for his commitment to the development of the African creative arts economy,\u201d Dr Bawumia underscored.<\/p>\n

Bawumia on creative arts sector during vision for Ghana address<\/b><\/p>\n

The leader of the NPP, in his \u201cBold Solutions for the Future\u201d address to unveil his vision for Ghana, did not leave the creative sector out.<\/p>\n

He assured of a robust platform that will help monetise creative arts content digitally if elected president in the next elections.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the teeming audience at the UPSA auditorium on Wednesday, Feb. 7, Dr Bawumia promised to introduce digital and streaming platforms for Ghanaian artists if he is elected president.<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Bawumia, this will contribute significantly to the creative industry in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will introduce other initiatives, such as digital and streaming platforms for our artists to make tourism and the creative arts a growth pole in Ghana,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
