Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo needed fresh ideas on resolving the economic challenges hence the nature of the ministerial reshuffle that he has done, former Deputy Managing Director of the National Investment Bank (NIB) and a member of the government\u2019s communication team, Alfred Thompson, has said.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr Thompson indicated that the entire world, is currently going through challenges and all governments inclduing the Akufo-Addo government, are putting their best foot forward to tackle the problems.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Friday, February 16 in relation to the reshuffle, Mr Thompson said \u201cToday, we hear the UK is in recession, Japan is in recession, so it tells you all is not well around the globe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen things are not going on well you need people who will come in with fresh blood, fresh ideas, and the push to make sure that the last few months that you have left or your last year you get some results that you want to put in place. I belive that that is exactly what the president has done, he is putting this country in the next pedestal.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo relieved Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of his portfolio in government in the latest reshuffle he did.<\/p>\n

The other ministers who have also been removed include Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Works and Housing Minister Francis Asenso Boakye, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Health, Kwasi Anoako Attah, Roads and Highways, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon. Lariba Abudu, Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Devt Hon. Dan Botwe, Sanitation and Water Resources Hon. Freda Prempeh, Tourism, Arts and Culture Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Greater Accra Region Hon. Henry Quartey, Oti Region Mr. Joseph Makubu.<\/p>\n

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has however been reassigned to Works and Housing, Asenso-Boakye has also been reassigned to Roads and Highways.<\/p>\n

This was announced by the Director of Communications at the Presidency Eugene Arhin on Wednesday, February 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realization of Government\u2019s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven (7) years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavours,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
