Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Minority in Parliament has said that all the re-assigned ministers will have to be vetted and approved by the Appointment Committee of Parliament.<\/b><\/p>\n

The opposition lawmakers have served notice to contest the re-assignment of 5 ministers of state to the Office of the President at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

South Dayi Member of Parliament contends that the ministers must be subjected to parliamentary approval and not just occupy the office without approval.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am saying on the authority of the Constitution that those persons\u2019 appointments were revoked by the President, and their re-assignment must be subjected to parliamentary scrutiny.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we are demanding that those five ministers he has reassigned must be subjected to parliamentary vetting, and that is the procedure, so they cannot escape parliamentary scrutiny,\u201d he said in Parliament on Friday.<\/p>\n

He added \u201cWe will do our duty as the constitution demands, and we will demand that their names be submitted to parliament for them to be vetted, and if this call is not heeded, we will proceed to the Supreme Court for legal interpretation.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo undertook the much-awaited ministerial reshuffle, ten months to the end of his tenure.<\/p>\n

While some ministers, like Ken Ofori-Atta, have been sacked, others like Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Francis Asenso Boakye have been reassigned to other portfolios.<\/p>\n

This was contained in a press release dated February 14, signed by the Director of Communication at the presidency, Eugene Arhin.<\/p>\n

According to Mr Arhin, \u201cThe President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realization of Government\u2019s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven (7) years and wished each of them well in their future endeavours.\u201d<\/p>\n
