Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Amansie West District of Ashanti Region is recording an increase in the acceptance rate of family planning.<\/b><\/p>\n

Health authorities observed that teenage pregnancy has been rife in the mining area, leading to drop out of the girl-child from school.<\/p>\n

But with continuous education, residents are now accepting the birth control methods.<\/p>\n

Between 2021 to 2023, the acceptance rate has moved from 25 percent to 48 percent.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family planning rate in Amansie West District as at the end of 2023 exceeds the national target of 40 percent. This is impressive because the community health nurses had to put in a lot of work to convince individuals and families to accept it as a way of preventing unplanned pregnancy and birth spacing\u201d, District Director of Health, Bernard Badu Bediako disclosed at the 2023 annual health review.<\/p>\n

The District, however, is still battling with increasing malaria, skin diseases and diarrhea cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese diseases are going up, obviously because of the mining activities and other causes. We are going to engage all those who matter in this fight as we strengthen our case management strategies\u201d, Mr Bediako indicated.<\/p>\n

Staff who distinguished themselves during the year under review were rewarded as a form of encouragement.<\/p>\n

Some traditional authorities were also honored for their immense support to improving health delivery in the district.<\/p>\n

Officials of the District Health Directorate are hoping to improve on health delivery in 2024.<\/p>\n
