Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has said with the support of the Ghana.GOV platform, the Ghana Police Service will now be able to issue spot fines for road and traffic offenders.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to journalist at a press briefing on Sunday, February 18, the Minister noted that the platform now permits the officers to also inspect insurance and motor infractions in real time.<\/p>\n

She disclosed this while touting the government\u2019s achievements so far with its digitilastion drive agenda at a press briefing in Accra.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police service for example can now work on digital solutions to support the issuance of spot fines by connecting to the Ghana.GOV platform and they can also be connected to the DVLA and insurance databases to check motor infractions in real time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis base line infrastructure which has now been provided is one on which all manner of digital solutions can ride for the benefit of not just the connected institution but the nation as a whole,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister, this forms part of a nationwide e-government connectivity for public institutions undertaken by the Akufo-Addo government.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project has connected government\u2019s agencies nationwide to enable faster communications, easier access to government\u2019s shared services, integrated functions and simplified processes.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said the e-government project has currently connected 951 government agencies on a modernized robust and secured fibre optic backbone.<\/p>\n

Ghana.GOV is a digital service and revenue collection platform, created to provide a single point of access to Government of Ghana services for the public sector.<\/p>\n

This is in pursuit of the government\u2019s vision of digitizing the economy and modernizing the way the government pays its bills and collects fees for the benefit of all citizens, residents, and visitors.<\/p>\n

The service portal seeks to deliver the processing of all payments and transfers (both electronic and cash) against the predefined service flows of each MDA and MMDA.<\/p>\n

The platform also manages post-payment workflow, customer notification, feedback, and service ratings. This will help the government fulfill its goal of creating a cash-lite economy.<\/p>\n
