Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said the government is determined to ensure that the elections this year are free, fair, and credible.<\/b><\/p>\n

He assured that the government wants to entrench Ghana\u2019s democratic journey by ensuring a credible poll this year.<\/p>\n

Ghanaians go to the polls on December 7 to elect a new president and Members of Parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have elections this year, we are determined to make the elections free and fair, and credible, continue our democratic journey,\u201d he said to journalists ahead of his keynote address at the Heads of State and Government\u2019s Dialogue on Saturday, 17 February 2024, at the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State of the African Union (AU), on the theme: \u2018Establishing African Union Financial Institutions in the Context of Africa\u2019s Agenda for Global Financial Architecture Reform.\u2019<\/p>\n

On the Ministerial changes that he did recently, he said the reshuffle was for the people of Ghana and not for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is for the people of Ghana, not for the NPPm,\u201d he remarked briefly when asked to comment on the reshuffle.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo in his recent major reshuffle relieved Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of his portfolio in government, with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

The other ministers who have also been removed include Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Works and Housing Minister Francis Asenso Boakye, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Health, Kwasi Amoako Attah, Roads and Highways, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Hon. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon. Lariba Abudu, Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Devt Hon. Dan Botwe, Sanitation and Water Resources Hon. Freda Prempeh, Tourism, Arts and Culture Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Greater Accra Region Hon. Henry Quartey, Oti Region Mr. Joseph Makubu.<\/p>\n

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has however been reassigned to Works and Housing, Asenso-Boakye has also been reassigned to Roads and Highways.<\/p>\n

This was announced by the Director of Communications at the Presidency Eugene Arhin on Wednesday, February 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realization of Government\u2019s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven (7) years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavours,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
