Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>National Sports Authority Director General, Professor Peter Twumasi, has been appointed to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia\u2019s Youth and Sports Committee for the upcoming 2024 elections.<\/b><\/p>\n

As the Vice President prepares for his campaign, the committee, aimed at shaping the New Patriotic Party\u2019s manifesto, includes key figures in the sports sector.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Dr. Bawumia revealed former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan as the sub-committee chair for Youth and Sports. The latest list encompasses various individuals in different sub-committees, and among the notable names is Peter Twumasi, who currently leads the National Sports Authority.<\/p>\n

When I look back at my career, my highs, my low, my failures, and my success, I think I have enough experience and the techniques to contribute in sports.<\/p>\n

Other prominent names on the Sports committee include Gifty Oware-Mensah, CEO of Berry Ladies Football Club and a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association, experienced Sports Broadcaster Charles Osei Asibey, and president of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Kudjoe Fianoo.<\/p>\n

Notably, former Minister of Youth and Sports Isaac Asiamah and former deputy for the same office, Pius Enam Hadzide, have also been included. The current Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has been appointed as the advisor for the committee.<\/p>\n

Peter Twumasi\u2019s inclusion comes amid public scrutiny and demands for improved maintenance of sports facilities under the NSA\u2019s jurisdiction. The Accra Sports Stadium, recently portrayed in pictures as greener and set for various sporting events, will host the Black Queens\u2019 Olympic Games qualifiers against Zambia and the Ghana Premier League match between Accra Sports Stadium and Real Tamale United.<\/p>\n

Twumasi has faced accountability issues, including questioning by the Public Accounts Committee over the renting out of sports facilities for non-sporting events.<\/p>\n

Gifty Oware-Mensah has also faced backlash for comments regarding the treatment disparity between the Black Stars and other national teams, notably the Black Queens.<\/p>\n

As Dr. Bawumia unveils personalities to assist in drafting his manifesto, anticipation builds for the announcement of the running mate for the New Patriotic Party\u2019s flagbearer.<\/p>\n
