Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, the venue manager for the University of Ghana facilities designated for the upcoming 2023 African Games, has stated that the facilities are 90-95% ready. <\/b><\/p>\n

As the Games approach, set to commence on March 8 and run through to March 23, Dr. Bitugu has assured the sports enthusiasts and all Ghanaians to expect all facilities to be in good shape on time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe facilities are 90 \u2013 95% through,\u201d he told 3Sports<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The University of Ghana is slated to host a range of games, including athletics, football, and rugby, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rugby and warmup tracks are from scratch. Sports goes with facilities and we have no excuses anymore\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bitugu also addressed concerns about the maintenance of the facilities, assuring the public that the University has established a committee dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of the sports infrastructure. He stated, \u201cWe are far advanced in terms of the sustainability of the facilities,\u201d emphasising the commitment to effective and responsive management.<\/p>\n

\u201cGhanaians should expect effective and responsive management and maintenance of facilities. They should exciting games. They should expect an exciting period these next three weeks. They should expect Ghana on top of everything. We invite you all to celebrate Ghana for this mega exciting moment\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

With the facilities nearing completion and a robust plan in place for maintenance, anticipation builds for the 13th African Games, where Ghana is expected to showcase its organisational prowess and sportsmanship on the continental stage.<\/p>\n

Anthony Owusu Ansah, the National Table Tennis Chief Coach, shared insights into the team\u2019s preparations.<\/p>\n

With a mix of experienced and young players, Ansah expressed confidence in building their potential and ensuring a strong showing at the tournament.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged the challenges of high expectations but highlighted the physical abilities of the young players as an advantage.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve assembled six men six women for the competition, we have 2 top players we expect to join the team. We have also added 2 more players whom we think they\u2019d be able to play for the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The member of the International Table Tennis Federation board of directors and African Table Tennis Federation jury member underscored the significance of hosting such a prestigious tournament in Ghana. He expressed optimism that the event could inspire future generations and elevate the status of table tennis in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is arguably the most prestigious tournament in the continent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe it can possibly inspire generations and be the source of greatness.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreparation has been tough but the toughness brings out the best in us. Preparation is enough for us to be the very best version of ourselves. We need the whole country to back these players and we hope to give the country a reason to smile.\u201c<\/p>\n
