Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The two new faces in the leadership of the Majority Patricia Appiagyei (MP for Asokwa and Deputy Majority Leader; Alex Tetteh Djonobuah, MP for Sefwi Akontombra, 2nd Deputy Majority Whip, will have a tough time settling into their new roles, Member of Parliament for South Dayi Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor has said.<\/b><\/p>\n

Apart from the two, Mr Dafeamekpor noted that the other leaders of the Majority, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and Habib Iddrisu will not have much of a problem because they were already in leadership.<\/p>\n

Mr Dafeamekpor however stated that the new Majority Leader will have it tough dealing with the Minority Caucus.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou [new Majority Leadership] are going to have it tough from us,\u201d he said ON Saturday February 24.<\/p>\n

He added \u201cGoing forward things are going to be very feisty, and I hope they can keep up to the pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Former Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Fuseini Issah, said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) must be allowed to move on following the leadership changes of the Majority Caucus in parliament.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the NPP is preparing itself for a challenging election this year and they want to set a record of breaking the 8-year electoral cycle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have an election ahead of us and there is nothing wrong with doing what has not been done in this country before, breaking the 8.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have transitioned from the leadership of Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to Afenyo-Markin and we should look forward,\u201d he said on the Key Point on TV3 on Saturday, February 24.<\/p>\n

The Suame lawmaker resigned on February 21 during a meeting between the Majority Caucus and President Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n

The NPP NEC held an emergency meeting in Accra on Friday February 23 to announce the changes made to the leadership of the Majority. At that meeting, the NEC decided to keep Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.<\/p>\n

He said on the floor of the House that his resignation as Majority Leader was voluntary.<\/p>\n

He thanked the Speaker Alban Bagbin for the cooperation that has existed between them over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for the cooperation and collaboration that existed between you and I over the entire period that our paths crossed,\u201d he said among other things.<\/p>\n

The MP for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin was therefore appointed as Majority Leader.<\/p>\n
