Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed disagreement with President Akufo-Addo on the current state of the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

He said contrary to the bright picture painted by the President in his penultimate State of the Nation Address (SONA) to the 8th Parliament on February 27, Ghanaians are not happy.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Speaker, the state of our nation is hopeless. No wonder that ordinary Ghanaians including professionals are leaving our shores in droves in search of greener pastures,\u201d he said before seconding the motion for the debate on the address to be rescheduled to Wednesday, February 28.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo, while presenting the SONA, touted the achievements of his administration.<\/p>\n

According to him, the economic challenges being experienced by Ghanaians are temporary.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Speaker, we stumbled, but we are rising again. We were bruised, but we are healing. We have recovered our footing. We have dusted ourselves off, and now we face tomorrow with confidence,\u201d the President Explained.<\/p>\n

However, Dr Forson insisted that the exchange rate of the cedi to the dollar currently, has affected the costs of living as well as doing business in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Speaker, $1 is today GH\u00a213. Mr Speaker, under President Mahama, $1 was 3 GH\u00a23.80. Mr Speaker, a vote for Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is a vote for President Akufo-Addo,\u201d the Minority Leader said.<\/p>\n

He concluded that, \u201cGhanaians voted for the President and appealed to the vice president to support him to succeed. Mr. Speaker, the president cannot fail alone. The President will have to fail together with the Vice-President so Mr President, you have failed with your Vice President.\u201d<\/p>\n
