Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy Minister of Railway Development who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Asante Akim South in the Ashanti Region, Kwaku Asante-Boateng, has shot down the 24-hour economy policy touted by the flagbearer of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).<\/b><\/p>\n

He has described the policy intervention as trite and banal whilst questioning its basis and direction and how it is intended to help solve youth unemployment and the economic challenges in the country.<\/p>\n

The 2024 flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his promise to equip the youth of Ghana with the knowledge and skills needed for a sustainable future.<\/p>\n

He has thus promised to introduce a 24-hour economy which he has said NDC\u2019s next administration will use to maximize the potential of agriculture and provide critical social and IT infrastructure to stimulate economic growth.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe will introduce a 24-hour economy with incentives and tax breaks for manufacturers who will run extra shifts to create more room for employment, \u201d Mr Mahama assured.<\/p>\n

However, the Asante Akim South legislator, speaking on Etifi Nsem show on Onua FM, Saturday March 3, refuted claims that the 24-hour economy policy proposal is the way to salvage the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought NDC being in opposition for almost 8 years by now would have better solutions to help solve the unemployment and other economic challenges, but they have proved not to be the alternative, all that they know is talking\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dr. Bawumia has provided bold solutions and anytime you mention it the NDC people would say 24-hour economy, what is the basis and direction of the 24-hour economy,\u201d he quizzed.<\/p>\n

Kwaku Asante-Boateng was quick to add that the 24-hour economy proposed by the NDC is an underhand tactic the party has adopted to woo the public and prayed that no one should fall victim.<\/p>\n

He, however, insinuated that Ghanaians will regret it if they dare vote for the NDC in the upcoming general elections.<\/p>\n
