Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Finance Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has engaged Ambassadors and Heads of Missions from the European Union in Ghana following his appointment as Minister for Finance. <\/b><\/p>\n

Welcoming the officials, the Minister acknowledged the strong cooperation between Ghana and their respective countries and development agencies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI value our partnership and your respective investments in Ghana, because this is the only way to build together for mutual benefits,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He expressed his appreciation to the Heads of Mission for their support to Ghana\u2019s development efforts in diverse ways, especially, during the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war and their negative impact on the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n

Dr Amin Adam highlighted his ten (10)-month vision, which includes ensuring macroeconomic stability, upscaling private sector-led growth, and staying on course to meet all structural benchmarks for a successful IMF second review.<\/p>\n

He announced that that a new Development Cooperation Policy and Strategy meant to broadly outlines parameters of Ghana\u2019s engagement with its Development Partners was ready. The overarching rationale of the Development Cooperation Policy and Strategy is to improve the strategic mobilization and effective use of external support to complement domestic resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe policy essentially highlights and amplifies the aid effectiveness principles including value for money and combating illicit financial flows and terrorism financing among others.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Minister assured the Heads of Mission of Ghana\u2019s commitment to conclude an agreement with the Official Creditors\u2019 Committee (OCC) as well as governments and institutions affected by the debt restructuring arrangements.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Head of the European Union delegation, H. E. Jonas Claes, who led the delegation, congratulated the Minister on his appointment and pledged the EUs\u2019 commitment to support Ghana\u2019s development efforts.<\/p>\n

The Heads of Missions took turns to talk about the status of their support to Ghana such as support to private sector, trade, energy, oil and gas, agriculture, scholarships, and fellowship programmes among other things.<\/p>\n

They also welcomed reforms in the energy sector as well as the debt restructuring exercise and pledged their continuous support to Ghana.<\/p>\n

Present at the meeting were Ms. Eva Esselba Mends, Chief Director, Mrs. Stella Williams, Coordinating Director, Ms. Yvonne Quansah, Director, Resource Mobilization & Economic Relations, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, Director, Economic Research and Forecasting Division, Mr. Samuel Arkhurst, Director Treasury and Debt Management Division, and other Officials from the Ministry.<\/p>\n
