Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Asam has said he is deeply saddened by the passing of his Deputy, whom he described as his dear colleague, friend, and brother, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dr Amin Adam said the demise of John Kumah has left a profound void in the hearts of all of who worked with him at the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n

\u201cHon. Kumah exemplified unwavering dedication and commitment to the cause of fiscal responsibility, economic empowerment for the youth, entrepreneurship, and service. His passion for the youth and tireless efforts towards advancing the nation\u2019s economic development were evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was a valued and cherished colleague whose humility, selflessness, and kind and gentle nature, left a deep impression and endeared him to all.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Ministry of Finance, I extend my deepest condolences to Hon. Kumah\u2019s wife, children, extended family, friends, colleagues, and the people of Ejisu constituency.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis legacy of selfless service and commitment to the people of Ejisu, exemplary leadership at the Ministry of Finance, and steadfast commitment to the economic development of our beloved nation, will stand as an enduring memorial to his name,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also mourned the late Deputy Finance Minister Dr John Kumah.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post, Dr Bawumia said \u201cA truly committed member of our administration, and party, who dedicated his all to the success of our endeavours. Rest well, John.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also stated that the efforts of John Kumah were instrumental in advancing the government\u2019s economic agenda, and ensuring that the fruits of the progress were equitably shared amongst all segments of society.<\/p>\n

Mr Akufo-Addo described John Kumah as a Ghanaian patriot par excellence.<\/p>\n

John Kumah died on Thursday, March 7. The 45-year-old lawmaker for Ejisu left behind a wife and six children.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post, Mr Akufo-Addo said \u201cI am deeply saddened by the tragic news of the sudden death of the Deputy Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon. John Ampontuah Kumah, whose untimely passing has left us all bereft of a bright, energetic light in our midst.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew him very well both in my days as Leader of the Opposition and as President of the Republic, and his warmth, humility, and genuine concern for others endeared him to me and to all who crossed his path. His unwavering dedication to service, his tireless commitment to the betterment of our nation, and his profound passion for uplifting the lives of the people of Ejisu and Ghana were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party in the Ejisu constituency, which he served with great enthusiasm and devotion as a Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was the first Chief Executive Officer of the new entity I set up in my first term, the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP). He distinguished himself in that office, and, therefore, merited his promotion to the office of Deputy Minister for Finance, where he brought not only expertise and skill, but also a deep sense of compassion and empathy to his role. His efforts were instrumental in advancing Government\u2019s economic agenda, and ensuring that the fruits of our progress were equitably shared amongst all segments of society. He was a Ghanaian patriot par excellence.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo his wife, children, family and the New Patriotic Party in the Ejisu constituency and across the nation, I offer my deepest condolences. on their great loss. May God bless him, and allow his soul to rest in perfect peace in His Bosom until the Last Day of the Resurrection when we shall all meet again.\u201d<\/p>\n
