Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has argued that Ghanaians would rather hand over the governance of the country to a former experienced \u2018driver\u2019, than to a careless \u2018driver\u2019s mate\u2018, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.<\/b><\/p>\n

The NDC leader, while speaking to some party members in the Upper West region, cited his expertise as a former President, indicating that he is better qualified to run the country than Dr. Bawumia, who has compared his role to that of a driver\u2019s mate, raising concerns about how well he performs.<\/p>\n

In what appeared to have absolved himself from the current economic conditions of the country, the NPP\u2019s presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia, indicated that his role was only to offer advice.<\/p>\n

But Mr. Maham emphasised the importance of Ghanaians electing him over Dr. Bawumia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity has come for us to rescue our nation from the incompetence and inept clueless administration of Nana Akufo-Addo and his driver\u2019s mate. And so, on 7th December the driver is going and if the driver hasn\u2019t been able to drive all these seven years he hasn\u2019t driven properly, we are not going to hand over the car of Ghana to the driver\u2019s mate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf even the driver could not drive well how much less the driver\u2019s mate. If you have a car and the driver didn\u2019t drive well and so you are taking your car back, will you give it to your former experienced driver or you will give it to the careless driver\u2019s mate? I will give it to the former experienced driver. I won\u2019t give it to the driver\u2019s mate,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the comments by Mr. Mahama have generated varied reactions on social media. While some agree, others strongly disagree with the NDC flag bearer.<\/p>\n

If the so called former \u201cexperienced driver\u201d was good I wouldn\u2019t have changed him.<\/p>\n

I would rather give the mate a chance to drive than to go back to the so called \u201cexperienced driver\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe funny thing in this analogy is that he was also a driver who didn\u2019t drive well and the car was taken from him, why should the car be given back to him? everything you say now comes back at you,\u201d another user, Brolin posted on X.<\/p>\n
