Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Former President John Dramani Mahama has said his honesty in admitting that the country was facing power challenges during his tenure was one of the problems that he had.<\/b><\/p>\n

He said he was honest with Ghanaians but the Akufo-Addo administration is not in relation to the power cuts in parts of the country.<\/p>\n

He says that the government is failing to admit that there are challenges. In his view, Ghanains believe erratic power supply (Dumsor) hence the need for a load-shedding timetable.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a gathering in Sissala West, as part of his \u201cBuilding the Ghana We Want\u201d Tour in the Upper West region, Mr Mahama said \u201cWhen I was president, if things were not going well, I told the people of Ghana things are not going well and this is what we are trying to do about it. I think my honesty was one of my major problems because I didn\u2019t think I should fool my people.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday every day you sleep and the lights go off and we know that they are shedding load. They have a problem with generation. Some generation assets are down. They have a problem with paying for gas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The flagbearer of the NDC added \u201cThey have a problem with paying for fuel so every day they are shedding between 280 and 480 megawatts of power but they will not give us a timetable and say you will be off today, this one will be off tomorrow because that is what Ghanaians know as dumsor.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so we will just put off the light anytime and reduce the number of megawatts so the system won\u2019t go down. But we don\u2019t call it dumsor and so there is no dumsor but we know that it is dumsor.\u201d<\/p>\n
