Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Team Ghana continued their pursuit of more medals at the 2023 African Games on the third day of Swimming at the Borteyman Aquatic Center on Monday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ghana\u2019s captain, Abeiku Jackson, will have to wait for another day to have a go at securing his second medal at the Games after a false start was detected in the 100m Butterfly final.<\/p>\n

Abeiku Jackson booked a place in the final of the men\u2019s 100m butterfly in heat 3 with a time of 54.17 while finishing the heat in first place, and it looked as though his first gold medal at the African Games was soon to come.<\/p>\n

However, his race in the 100m butterfly final has been postponed following a false start detection by the officials on the day from some of the finalists.<\/p>\n

In the Women\u2019s 50m backstroke however, Ghana\u2019s Nubia Adjei also made the final but finished in 7th place with a 30.62 personal time as South Africa\u2019s Catlin Ann De Launge grabbed gold with a 28.76 seconds finish.<\/p>\n

In the Women\u2019s 100m butterfly final, Egypt\u2019s Farida Osman secured gold with a 58.51 finish, with Noir Elgendy(Egypt) winning silver with a 1.01.19 personal time as Senegal\u2019s Ommy Dioup (1.02.97) finished third with Bronze.<\/p>\n

Also, in the Women\u2019s 200 breaststroke final, Algeria\u2019s Hamida Rania grabbed gold with a stunning 2.33.33 finish, securing her third medal at the Games.<\/p>\n

The race of the day was the 50m backstroke men\u2019s final where Algeria\u2019s Abdellah Ardjourne secured gold with a 25.85 finish as South Africa\u2019s Jonah Pool Jones won silver (25.85) with Senegal\u2019s Stephen Kylian (26.21) finishing third.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s still a lot to compete for with two days in swimming left, and although Ghana has already made history by winning its first ever medal in swimming, the Team will be aiming for more with a huge crowd behind them at the Borteyman Aquatic centre.<\/p>\n
