Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is warning its customers to brace themselves for more power outages during peak demand hours between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.<\/b><\/p>\n

ECG revealed in a social media post that 630 distribution transformers in communities across its operational zones are currently above capacity due to increased power consumption.<\/p>\n

This, it claimed, might result in blown fuses and broken conductors, causing outages, particularly during the peak load time (7pm \u201311pm) in the affected locations.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we wish to assure our customers that transformer upgrading, and new projects are on-going to relieve these transformers to ensure a more reliable power supply,\u201d the post added.<\/p>\n

\u201cCustomers within the underlisted communities\/localities are therefore advised to report any localised outage or voltage fluctuations to the ECG Call Center on 0302-611611 (also available on WhatsApp) or reach us on our social media handles via ECGghOfficial (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) for prompt rectification,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

The ECG called for the support and patience of affected customers as it continues to work to improve Ghana\u2019s power distribution system.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Managing Director (MD) of the ECG, Samuel Dubik Mahama, in addressing the frequent power disruptions (dumsor), said the company was facing some maintenance issues.<\/p>\n

He claimed that because the company works with machines, they are prone to malfunction at any time, resulting in the problems people are facing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are having major maintenance issues. The issue we are having now has nothing to do with fuel. You are relying on a power plant that is to give you about 360 megawatts then around 4 pm the gas emergency safety valve has a problem. What do you do? It is a machine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In a related development, former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC minority in Parliament have constantly insisted that the government releases a \u2018dumsor\u2019 schedule to aid businesses in planning.<\/p>\n
