Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Leader of the Western Nzema Youth League, Dr Patrick Ekye Kwesie, has bemoaned the lack of development in the Nzema areas of the Western Region despite the siting of Ghana\u2019s foremost gas company, the Ghana National Gas Company.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dr Kwesie claims there is nothing to show for in Nzemaland despite hosting the gas company.<\/p>\n

These were contained in a rejoinder to a publication of some 398 projects by the corporate social responsibility (CSR) section of Ghana Gas.<\/p>\n

\u201cGhana National Gas Company has failed the good people of Nzema regarding their Corporate social<\/p>\n

responsibility,\u201d he wrote on Tuesday, March 12.<\/p>\n

\u201cTypical example is Asemda, Atuabo, Beyin, Ekabaku Anochie and host of others have been dealing with venting of gas and exposure to dangerous greenhouse gases for over a decade now.\u201d<\/p>\n

For him, a town like Evalue Gwira is the hardest hit despite hosting the longest pipeline for the company.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook at the Gwira area which houses GNGC\u2019s longest pipeline. It\u2019s an eyesore.<\/p>\n

Rejoinder: Ghana Gas initiates 398 projects in the last ten years.<\/p>\n

Your 398 Projects is a smokescreen of fustian and Fantasy.<\/p>\n

We woke up to a publication on the 30th of January 2024 indicating that Ghana National Gas Company Through their Corporate social responsibility have decided to put dust in the eyes of Ghanaians particularly the good people of Nzema regarding their CSR rhetoric.<\/p>\n

Ghana National Gas Company has failed the good people of Nzema regarding their Corporate social responsibility. Typical example is Asemda, Atuabo, Beyin, Ekabaku Anochie and host of others have been dealing with venting of gas and exposure to dangerous greenhouse gases for over a decade now. These sensitive areas does not have common Air Quality monitoring station. But they claim to be ISO 4500:1 certified. This makes them fail in the area of health and agriculture with reference to our rivers now being acidic.<\/p>\n

The whole of Nzema can not boast of Single Air Quality monitoring Station. Even though we can strongly suggest that their operations are complicit in various respiratory problems in the Nzema area and trapped heat from these green house gases that are vented like the pentanes. We need to<\/p>\n

partner and localise their operations and be climate conscious.<\/p>\n

Ghana National Gas Company has never even if invested in any form of systems in Agriculture not to talk of green house technologies taking into consideration that their operations and it\u2019s effects on Agriculture and climate change that is starring at our face.<\/p>\n

In their submission and Fustian of charade to the media, they made mention of 78 CSR in the catchment area. This assertion lacks alot of credibility since there\u2019s nothing to show as a value added CSR. We dare them to provide us with details.<\/p>\n

We are being threatened by the flaring and venting of Natural Gas. Ghana has no flaring policy. Why don\u2019t we stick to it and inject the gas for better use. We can add value to gases like Isopentane for power generation instead of venting it away and harming the environment.<\/p>\n

Again they reiterated that 60 women from Nzema have be economical fortified to trade in various forms, This is funny. There is no iota of truth in this and considering the population in the Three Nzema Districts, 60 people Even if is true it is nothing to write home about.<\/p>\n

Their Gas school initiative is a Laudable idea but we hope it doesn\u2019t become a mere talk. Ghana gas is always preaching wise and practicing vice when it comes to community affairs.<\/p>\n

Their constant neglect to offset carbon through various initiatives is a bane on us as climate change is here to stay and we need resilient measures and a lead gas aggregator and ventor of Natural Gas.<\/p>\n

The proposed Gas bottling plant in Axim is just a campaign slogan to get the attention of the good<\/p>\n

people of Evalu Gwira. This same project was commissioned to start about 4years ago.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s very sad that Evalue Gwira which is Holding the longest pipeline for GNGC is totally ignored. You cannot pinpoint one project in Nzema East Municipality by Ghana National Gas Company. Look at the Gwira area which houses GNGC\u2019s longest pipeline. It\u2019s an eyesore. We feel insulted by the community department of GHANA Gas for falsely reporting their CSR.<\/p>\n

Ever since this leadership took over the community affairs, Every single thing has been politicized. The youth quality health care, Systems in Agriculture and Human Capital development. We want to feel as the owners of resources. We have been shortchanged for long. Wealth creation is what we need because we have been press for long.<\/p>\n
