Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP0 Richard Ahiagbha has said that the Minority decision to oppose the government\u2019s request for a tax waiver exceeding $449 million was an attempt to sabotage the implementation of the 2024 fiscal policy.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement posted on X on Saturday, March 9, he indicated that the Minority intentionally placed the country in a lose-lose situation through their actions.<\/p>\n

On Friday, March 9, Parliament gave its approval for a $300 million loan from the World Bank, intended to bolster the First Resilient Recovery Development Policy Financing.<\/p>\n

This funding plays a pivotal role in supporting the government\u2019s execution of outlined policies in the 2024 budget.<\/p>\n

Initially encountering resistance from the Minority, who tied their support to the government retracting its request for a tax waiver exceeding $449 million, the loan ultimately gained approval.<\/p>\n

Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam reassured the Minority of his dedication to reevaluating the tax exemption appeals within a two-week time-frame, paving the way for the loan\u2019s eventual endorsement.<\/p>\n

Commenting don\u2019t his issue, Mr Ahiagbah urged the Ghanaian populace to hold them accountable and discourage behaviours detrimental to the country\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NDC has activated a hyper-obstructive mode to sabotage the government\u2019s implementation of the 2024 fiscal policy, and Ghanaians must roundly condemn the NDC for that reckless decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NDC has activated a hyper-obstructive mode to oppose job creation and sabotage the implementation of the 2024 fiscal policy of the government. Unknown to the NDC, this naked obstruction reveals the emptiness of their 24-hour scam. Ghanaians must roundly condemn the NDC for that reckless decision.<\/p>\n

Yesterday in Parliament, the NDC put the people of Ghana in a lose-lose situation with their selfish demand to swap the $449 million tax exemption before the House under Act 1083 for the passage of the $300 million First Resilient Recovery Development Policy Financing, a 2024 budget support facility.<\/p>\n

It was a situation of trading your mother for your wife or your father for your husband; either way, you are losing. The NDC deserves round condemnation for two reasons: 1. The $300 million World Bank facility has, in principle, been approved as part of the 2024 budget to support the implementation of policies in the budget.<\/p>\n

So, why is Mahama & NDC holding it hostage? 2. By their obstruction, the NDC is fighting the government\u2019s honest effort to create jobs for our youth and growth using these tax exemptions to stimulate production. So, why is the NDC obstructing job creation for the youth? This unexamined obstruction by Mahama & the NDC amounts to economic sabotage and makes the NDC brand of democracy look cheap, exceedingly parochial, and misguided.<\/p>\n

The NDC\u2019s plot to torpedo the steady recovery of the economy to brighten their fleeting chances in the 2024 general elections is dangerous politicking, and Ghanaians must rebuke Mahama & the NDC for such.
