Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Dr Donald Agumenu as Director of Special Duties ahead of this year\u2019s general elections.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr. James Gunu, Regional Secretary of NDC Volta announcing the appointment disclosed that Dr. Agumenu\u2019s nomination and subsequent approval was considered at the Functional Executive Committee meeting held on 25th February 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great pleasure to inform you Dr. Donald Cog Senanu Agumenu about your appointment as the Director of Special Duties for the National Democratic Congress, Regional Secretariat,\u201d the letter states.<\/p>\n

According to the Regional Secretary of the NDC, the party is expecting the former special aide of President Rawlings to \u201cuse your rich experience to help strengthen the Directorate for the party to win the 2024 general election.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, Dr. Agumenu has communicated to the party that he accepted the appointment with humility.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI wish to thank the Functional Executive Committee, the Volta Regional NDC Secretariat as well as the entire NDC leadership for the confidence reposed in me.<\/p>\n

Respectfully, I implore you to have the fullest assurances that my God-given talents coupled with years of experience in strategic affairs not limited to leadership, corporate governance, project management, international diplomacy and intelligence will come to bear on the operations of the Volta Regional Directorate and the party as whole in achieving our desired result in the upcoming 2024 General Elections and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Agumenu said he views the appointment as one that carries a special burden of helping to achieve the \u201cGhana We Want for socio-economic development and meaningful livelihoods for our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ghana goes to the polls later this year to elect parliamentarians and a new president to govern affairs for the next four years.<\/p>\n

The NDC faces a herculean task to challenge the governing NPP\u2019s mantra to \u201cBreak The 8\u201d and market a new paradigm to change Ghana\u2019s economic woes for the better.<\/p>\n

The electoral dynamics in Ghana demand all political parties to maintain a good showing nationwide, especially in their traditional strongholds. And indications are that the NDC is taking serious note of late NPP encroachments into the Volta region.<\/p>\n
