Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The National Communications Authority (NCA) has said it is monitoring developments regarding an undersea cable disruption that has affected mobile and fixed data networks across the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

All mobile and fixed data services went down nationwide in the early hours of Thursday, March 14.<\/p>\n

The Authority, in a statement, said, \u201cThe disruptions affecting multiple undersea cables responsible for carrying international traffic have occurred in Senegal and Cote d\u2019Ivoire and with some disruptions in Portugal. This has led to a significant degradation of data services across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important to note that the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) are working around the clock to restore full services. In addition, the MNOs have informed affected customers of the disruptions via various channels.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Authority is monitoring the situation and will update the public accordingly,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the telecommunications giant MTN Ghana, in a separate statement, has apologised to its clients for the interruptions being experienced owing to the undersea cable disruptions.<\/p>\n

\u201cMTN apologises for the challenges our customers are experiencing in accessing data services and reaching our call center.<\/p>\n

This is due to a disruption on our international undersea cables. Our technical teams are working with our international partners to resolve the issue. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and will keep customers updated. Thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n
