Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>In a remarkable turnaround, Team Ghana has surged into the top 10 on the medal table standings at the 2023 African Games, showcasing an inspiring resurgence in their performance.<\/b><\/p>\n

Despite a challenging start to the competition, Ghana demonstrated outstanding prowess in weightlifting and swimming, setting the stage for an impressive comeback.<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s exceptional performance in Armwrestling on Friday propelled them to new heights, clinching an impressive total of 21 medals, comprising 4 gold, 10 silver, and 7 bronze, bringing their overall tally to 26 medals.<\/p>\n

With this outstanding achievement, Ghana has now secured 5 gold, 8 silver, and 13 bronze medals, catapulting them to seventh place on the medal table, surpassing formidable opponents such as Eritrea, Madagascar, Morocco, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, and Libya.<\/p>\n

On the overall medal table, Egypt continues to dominate with a staggering 144 medals, including 83 gold, 33 silver, and 38 bronze, with Nigeria closely following with 68 medals.<\/p>\n

While Egypt currently leads the Armwrestling table with nine medals, including seven golds, Ghana sitting second remains in contention, aiming to surpass the North Africans in the coming events.<\/p>\n

Ghana\u2019s success extends beyond Armwrestling, with commendable performances in weightlifting and swimming. Winnifred Ntumi set the pace with Ghana\u2019s initial three medals, including one gold and two silvers in weightlifting, followed by swim team captain Abeiku Jackson\u2019s remarkable achievements in Men\u2019s 50m and 100m Butterfly, securing one silver and one bronze medal.<\/p>\n

Surpassing their record in the 2019 edition, where they finished 15th on the table with 13 medals, Ghana\u2019s triumph underscores their commitment to excellence and determination to shine on the continental stage.<\/p>\n

With both the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s football teams advancing to the semifinals, and the athletics team set to commence their events on Monday, March 18, 2024, Ghana remains poised to seize further medal opportunities, fueling hopes for continued success and glory at the 2023 African Games.<\/p>\n
