Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Alex Amankwah has advanced to the final of the men\u2019s 800m at the ongoing 2023 African Games following an impressive performance in the semi-finals on Tuesday evening.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Ghanaian athlete surged from sixth place in the final stretch to claim second position, securing his berth in the final with a time of 1:48.93.<\/p>\n

The final is set to take place on Wednesday, March 20, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, Accra. Amankwah is poised for a shot at a medal.<\/p>\n

Eager to represent Ghana proudly, Amankwah remains focused on achieving a medal, though modest about his expectations, saying, \u201cAt the end of the day, I\u2019m going to do what I can… My goal is to win, My goal is to come top three.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amankwah pursued his collegiate athletics career at the University of Alabama, where he established a school record and earned First Team All-American honours in the indoor 800m event.<\/p>\n

Although he qualified for the 800m at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, China, visa issues prevented him from competing. Additionally, he represented Ghana in the 4 \u00d7 400 meters relay at the 2015 African Games.<\/p>\n

Amankwah further showcased his talents on the global stage by representing Ghana in the 800 meters at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/p>\n
