Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Ghana\u2019s high jump sensation, Rose Amoanima Yeboah, once again etched her name into the annals of African athletics history by successfully defending her gold medal from the 2019 edition, emerging as the heroine for her nation at the 2023 African Games.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a spectacular display of talent and determination, Yeboah soared to victory in the women\u2019s high jump event held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the 2023 African Games.<\/p>\n

With impeccable skill, she cleared a height of 1.87m, edging out her competitors and securing the coveted gold medal.<\/p>\n

Despite attempting to surpass her own record with a jump of 1.90m, Yeboah fell short of the challenge.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, she was met with thunderous applause and jubilation at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium as she jogged across the field, proudly hoisting the Ghana flag after clinching the top prize in the event.<\/p>\n

As Ghana\u2019s reigning high jump champion and record holder with an impressive height of 1.94m, Yeboah\u2019s victory marks her as a back-to-back gold medalist, solidifying her status as a national heroine in athletics.<\/p>\n

Her remarkable achievement contributes to Ghana\u2019s overall medal tally, with the 22-year-old\u2019s gold medal bringing the country\u2019s count to 10 gold, 22 silver, and 15 bronze medals, totaling 47 medals in total.<\/p>\n

While Yeboah\u2019s triumph uplifts the spirits of the host nation, Ghana, hopes were high for further success in track events, particularly the eagerly anticipated 100m final. However, Ghana\u2019s dependable sprinter Benjamin Azamati failed to secure a medal, finishing fifth in his event earlier in the day.<\/p>\n
