Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COCA) has expressed serious concern about the party\u2019s unity and strategy for the 2024 general elections as the race for a running mate continues to threaten efforts.<\/b><\/p>\n

With the selection of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party\u2019s flagbearer and various key preparations underway, including the formation of campaign teams, the focus now shifts to the crucial decision of selecting a running mate.<\/p>\n

But, this decision has brought intense lobbying within the party, particularly in the Ashanti Region. The decision to pick the running mate from Ashanti Region has led to tensions and divisions, which Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah warns could affect the party\u2019s stronghold.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the significance of the Ashanti Region in securing victory for the NPP, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah stressed the need for unity and avoidance of any actions that may further divide the NPP in Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with our news team in Kumasi, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah said \u201cI appeal to the party\u2019s flagbearer to expedite the selection process for the running mate. The importance of timely decision-making in averting potential crisis and strengthening the party\u2019s position is critical.\u201d<\/p>\n

Referring to the NPP\u2019s constitution, which stipulates a deadline for selecting the running mate, he also underscored the urgency of adhering to these guidelines to prevent deepening cracks within the party.<\/p>\n

Despite his disappointment in losing a regional chairmanship contest, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP\u2019s cause and called on all party members, leaders, including those who were unsuccessful in primaries, to rally behind the party\u2019s campaign to secure victory in this year\u2019s general elections.<\/p>\n

Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah touched on the unity of purpose within the NPP and expressed confidence in the party\u2019s ability to overcome challenges and emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n
