Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Ashanti Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wuntumi) has assured the NPP that the party would break the 8-year electoral cycle.<\/b><\/p>\n

He says that they will not hand over power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr Bawumia will win the elections, and we shall break the 8, John Mahama will not give it to you because you are not the option, Bawulai will succeed Akufo-Addo\u201d he said during the inauguration of the Ashanti Region NPP campaign team over the weekend.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Campaign Chairman of the NPP ahead of the 2024 general elections, Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe said that at the right time, the flagbearer of the NPP Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will announce his running mate for the 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n

He says Dr Bawumia will soon meet the National Council of the NPP and discuss the selection with the council.<\/p>\n

Mr Botwe told jounalists the same event that \u201cwe are not divided at all, we have had successful polling station elections, successful electoral elections, successful constituency elections, successful regional elections, successful national elections, and successful presidential elections, we are united and we will do it at the right time. We have done it before in 1992, 96, 2000, 2008, we did it, so it is not an issue at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the appropriate time, the presidential candidate will meet the national council and we shall have a discussion and we will name the running mate, so far as I am concerned there is no contest for a running mate.\u201d<\/p>\n
