Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Black Stars coach Otto Addo has recognised the formidable challenge of rebuilding the Ghanaian national football team, highlighting the adverse conditions he encountered upon assuming his role.<\/b><\/p>\n

After overseeing his first two matches in charge against Nigeria and Uganda, Addo reflected on the team\u2019s current state and the challenges faced in restoring it to its former glory.<\/p>\n

Despite a 2-1 defeat to Nigeria and a 2-2 draw against Uganda, Addo remains committed to the process of rebuilding.<\/p>\n

Addo\u2019s appointment comes amidst the team\u2019s recent struggles, including early exits from consecutive Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.<\/p>\n

Addressing the team\u2019s performance against Uganda, Addo stressed the importance of improving finishing under pressure and acknowledged the significant work required to elevate the team\u2019s standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinishing must be better under pressure. It\u2019s a lot of work, it\u2019s a lot of work but I have to say this is what I expected because…we were not good even before I came so it\u2019s a process,\u201d Addo remarked.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Addo\u2019s focus shifts to the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where Ghana will face Mali and the Central African Republic in June. With a determination to overcome recent challenges and improve the team\u2019s performance, Addo aims to steer the Black Stars back on track for success.<\/p>\n

Addo\u2019s appointment signifies a renewed effort to address the team\u2019s shortcomings and revitalise Ghana\u2019s footballing aspirations following recent disappointments, including the early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n
