Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The New Patriotic Party has announced a roadmap for the conduct of parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency in relation to the upcoming by-election.<\/b><\/p>\n

The by-election has been necessitated by the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr John Kumah. Dr Kumah died aged 45 after a short illness.<\/p>\n

A press release dated March 29, 2024 said, \u201cThe New Patriotic Party, has approved the timelines for holding parliamentary primary by-election at Ejisu. The approved timelines are as follows:<\/p>\n

Opening of Nomination -Tuesday, April 2, 2024<\/p>\n

Closing of Nomination -Thursday April 4, 2024<\/p>\n

Election \u2013 Saturday April 13, 2024<\/p>\n

1. An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate (APC) shall procure Nomination<\/p>\n

Forms after the payment of a non-refundable application fee of GHC<\/p>\n

3,000.00 in Bankers Draft in favour of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY<\/p>\n

NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.<\/p>\n

2. To successfully file the nomination, an APC shall pay a non-refundable filing<\/p>\n

fee of thirty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GHC35, 000.00) in Bankers Draft<\/p>\n

in favour of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.<\/p>\n

3. However, Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) who wants<\/p>\n

to aspire to a higher political office will enjoy a 50% rebate on the filing fees.<\/p>\n

This means they will be required to pay a non-refundable filing fee of<\/p>\n

seventeen thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis \u2013 (GHC 17,500.00). For<\/p>\n

the avoidance of doubt, a youth is a person whose age is between 18 and 40<\/p>\n

years.<\/p>\n

4. No individual shall be denied access to purchase Nomination Forms.<\/p>\n

The NPP named the Election Committee (EC) members as follows:<\/p>\n

a. Mr. Danquah Smith Butey- Chairman<\/p>\n

b. Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako \u2013 Vice Chairman<\/p>\n

c. Hon. Patricia Appiagyei<\/p>\n

d. Mad. Martha Kodua<\/p>\n

e. Mr. Evans Nimako \u2013 Secretary<\/p>\n

f. Chairperson of the Constituency Council of Elders.<\/p>\n

g. All Constituency Executives (Ex-officio members).<\/p>\n

The press release said, \u201cThe Party has also approved detailed Rules and Regulations to govern the conduct of the parliamentary primary election which would be made available to stakeholders. However, Nomination Forms will be available at the<\/p>\n

Constituency Party Office for purchase.\u201d<\/p>\n
