Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The opposition People\u2019s National Convention (PNC) is urging churches across Ghana to use their platforms and pulpits this Easter season to advocate for peaceful polls come December 7.<\/b><\/p>\n

The party says it believes in the influence of churches to shape society.<\/p>\n

These were contained in a statement issued on Friday, March 29 on the occasion of the remembrance of the death of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

Signed by General Secretary Janet Asana Nabla, the statement appealed to Christians to use the occasion to emphasize the importance of good moral values and<\/p>\n

uprightness and echoing the teachings of Christ.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe firmly believe that by steering sermons away from messages centered on material prosperity,<\/p>\n

vengeance, and superstition, and instead focusing on the wisdom imparted by Christ, churches can play<\/p>\n

a crucial role in the fight against corruption in our country.<\/p>\n

\u201cCorruption, a challenge affecting all Ghanaians irrespective of political affiliations, remains a<\/p>\n

significant obstacle to progress and development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the promotion of integrity, accountability,<\/p>\n

and compassion, churches can significantly contribute to nurturing a culture of transparency and righteousness in our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The party also appealed to churches to \u201cheed this call and prioritize the dissemination of sermons that inspire positive change and ethical conduct among their congregants\u201d.<\/p>\n

It further appealed to the Christian Council of Ghana, the Ghana Catholic Bishops\u2019 Conference, the Ghana<\/p>\n

Pentecostal and Charismatic Council to put measures in place to prevent the proliferation of institutions that deviate from the teachings of the Bible.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will safeguard the vulnerable, particularly women and children, who are often the most affected by unscrupulous individuals exploiting religious platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n
