Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has publicly apologised to President Akufo-Addo for implicating him in the infamous \u2018Number 12\u2019 expose, spearheaded by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.<\/b><\/p>\n

In the documentary, Nyantakyi was captured making remarks that suggested the president and some cabinet ministers were involved in corrupt activities, tarnishing their reputations in the process.<\/p>\n

Acknowledging his wrongdoing in an interview, Nyantakyi admitted to speaking out of turn during a meeting with supposed investors, where he suggested the need to offer bribes to the president and his vice to facilitate business dealings in Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cI admit I was wrong to mention the President [Akufo-Addo] and his Vice [Dr Mahamudu Bawumia] in that incident. I am sorry and I hope they forgive me,\u201d Nyantakyi expressed remorse.<\/p>\n

He further clarified that his comments were made in error and expressed regret for the implications they had.<\/p>\n

Nyantakyi\u2019s apology comes as he seeks to rebuild trust among party members and higher authorities following his decision to contest in the by-elections for the Ejisu Constituency seat, left vacant by the late John Kumah.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Number 12\u2019 expose led to Nyantakyi\u2019s resignation from all his positions within football governance, including roles at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the FIFA Council.<\/p>\n

His apology marks a significant step in his efforts to reconcile with those affected by the fallout from the documentary.<\/p>\n

Nyantakyi has also promised to leverage his experience and connections to assist Ghana in various areas of development as he aims to make a switch in focus.<\/p>\n

He indicated that delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will pick nomination forms on his behalf having declared his interest in becoming a lawmaker.<\/p>\n
