President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo does not deserve a second term in office because he has failed Ghanaians, especially in the fight against illicit small-scale mining (Glamasey), the immediate past Deputy Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party\u2019s California arm, Mr Solomon Owusu, has said.<\/p>\n
According to Mr Owusu, in spite of the ban on illicit small-scale mining, it still persists with some government officials and their relatives neck-deep in it.<\/p>\n
Mr Owusu told Kwabena Bobie Ansah on The Citizen Show on Accra100.5FM on Tuesday, 10 December 2019 that Mr Akufo-Addo \u201clied in South Africa in February this year when he said the water bodies were clean now due to the fight against galamsey\u201d.<\/p>\n
The outspoken NPP man said: \u201cThe fight against galamsey has achieved nothing because it is ongoing with several key personalities in government involved in it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cGo to Tarkwa\u201d, he challenged, \u201cAnd see how the water bodies are still being destroyed by galamsayers; go to New Abirem in the Eastern Region and see how these people are destroying the environment. Yet, the President told the whole world the water bodies are clean\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Inter-Ministerial Committee Against Illegal Mining reports to the President but as we speak, galamsey is still destroying our water bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n
