Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that candidates who wish to participate in the by-election to be held in the Ejisu Constituency will be required to pay a filing fee of ten thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC10,000).<\/b><\/p>\n

This is contained in a press release dated April 9, 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Candidate shall at the time of submitting his\/her completed Nomination Forms, provide the Returning Officer with two (2) copies of a recent post card (bust sized) photograph against a red background, showing his\/her full face and ears. The filing fee for the election is Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH10,000.00) per candidate. All completed Nomination Forms are expected to be delivered in quadruplicate,\u201d a portion of the release signed by the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Jean Mensa read.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge the public to be guided accordingly,\u201d the EC said.<\/p>\n

The bye-election, which has been occasioned by the demise of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr John Kumah, will be held on April 30, 2024. Dr Kumah died aged 45 after short illness.<\/p>\n

Electoral Commission sets April 30 for Ejisu by-election<\/p>\n

\u201cIn accordance with Article 112 (5) of the Constitution, as amended, the Electoral Commission will hold a By-Election in the Constituency on Tuesday, the 30th of April, 2024. Accordingly, the Commission will receive Nominations from prospective Candidates for the Election of a Member of Parliament for the said Constituency. The Nominations will be received at the Ejisu District Office of the Commission from 16th April, 2024 to 18th April, 2024 between the hours of 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on each day,\u201d the EC further announced.<\/p>\n

NDC yet to decide on contesting Ejisu by-election \u2013 Gbande<\/p>\n

\u201cInterested candidates are required to download the Nomination Forms from the Commission\u2019s website (www.ec.gov.gh) from 9th April, 2024 to 18th April, 2024.<\/p>\n

A prospective Candidate may personally deliver or cause to be delivered on his\/her behalf by either the Proposer or Seconder of his\/her Nomination, the completed Nomination Forms to the Returning Officer at the Ejisu District Office of the Commission on the dates and times stated above,\u201d the release added.<\/p>\n

Ejisu By-election: NPP announces timelines for parliamentary primary<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Nomination Forms for each Candidate shall be witnessed by the signature or mark of two registered voters as Proposer and Seconder, and supported by eighteen other registered voters in the Constituency as assenting to the nomination,\u201d Mrs Mensa wrote.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set Saturday, April 13, 2024 as the date for its parliamentary primary to elect a candidate for the by-election on April 30, 2024. Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the other hand, is yet to decide whether to contest the seat or not.<\/p>\n
