Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Richard Ahiagbah, has said the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Forner resident John Dramani Mahama has no track record of asking serious questions.<\/b><\/p>\n

He says Mr Mahama when in office, failed to ask questions about serious issues such as designating the then President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta as President of the Republic of Ghana.<\/p>\n

His comments come at a time Mr Mahama said he would have asked serious questions relative to the train accident that occurred on the Tema-Mpakadan railway line on Thursday 18th April 2024, if he were to be the president.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow can you conduct a test run on a new railway line without a track inspection? How long had the vehicle been on the track before the test run? If I were President, I\u2019ll be asking some serious questions,\u201d Mr Mahama wrote on his X Platform.<\/p>\n

Responding to him also on his X platform, Mr Ahiagbah said \u201cH.E Mahama failed to ask any serious questions when his Jubilee House staff designated President Uhuru Kenyatta as President of the Republic of Ghana instead of himself, the President at the time. That negligence embarrassed Ghana Internationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cThus, he has zero track record of asking serious questions. The derailment of the DMU train has left many unanswered questions, and serious questions are being asked to ensure the saboteurs are fished out.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident occurred when the new DMU train approaching a curve at Km76+100, encountered a stationary vehicle right across the railway track.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old truck driver, Abel Dzidotor, whose alleged negligence led to the obstruction and resulting crash has been jailed for six months by the Juapong Circuit Court.<\/p>\n

Mr Dzidotor was convicted of his own plea after pleading guilty to three of four charges proffered against him.<\/p>\n

The first charge was for careless and inconsiderate driving, a violation of Section 3 of the RTA Act 683 (2004), as amended by Act 761 of 2008. Dzidotor pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 100 penalty units, equivalent to a potential 20-month prison term if not paid.<\/p>\n

The second charge was for unauthorized stopping, in violation of Section 19 of Act 683 of 2004, as amended by Act 761 of 2008. Dzidotor pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 penalty units, or a five-month jail term if unpaid.<\/p>\n

The third charge was for causing unlawful damage, contrary to section 172b of Act 2960. Dzidotor pleaded guilty and received a six-month sentence in hard labour.<\/p>\n

For the fourth charge which was failing to produce a driver\u2019s license, contrary to regulation 47(2) of LI 21(80) the 41-year-old truck driver pleaded not guilty, indicating that his license had been left in the damaged vehicle.<\/p>\n
