Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his intention not to have former President John Dramani Mahama succeed him after the December 7 elections.<\/b><\/p>\n

The president said he cannot have the NDC flagbearer, whom he defeated twice, succeed him after his tenure ends on January 7, 2025.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo conveyed gratitude to the chiefs and residents of Wa for their unwavering support throughout his term.<\/p>\n

He shared with Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, the paramount chief of the Waala traditional area, his plan to revisit the region with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, who he envisions as his successor.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore the election is held, I am going to come here and pay my proper goodbye to you and thank you for the cooperation that I received from you when I was president. God willing, when I come, I will come with the man who is going to be my successor.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo made it clear that he does not intend to transfer power to John Dramani Mahama, whom he defeated and removed from office in 2016.<\/p>\n

\u201cWa Naa, you know that the man I removed from the seat, I cannot have him as my successor and as a traditional ruler, you understand what I am saying.\u201c<\/p>\n

\u201cOur country is known as the pacesetter for democratic government across the entire continent of Africa. I want to assure you that this year we are going to maintain that reputation. But I need your support and cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want us to work together to make sure that the peace and stability of our country is maintained all through the electioneering period and after,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the President vowed his unflinching dedication to ensuring that there is peace before, during, and after the December elections.<\/p>\n
