Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>About 1,300 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency are voting in a parliamentary primary to elect their party\u2019s candidate for the December 7 election.<\/b><\/p>\n

The delegates are choosing between Joseph Addo, President Akufo-Addo\u2019s personal driver, and Solomon Kotey Nikoi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.<\/p>\n

The April 27 primary in the constituency comes on the back of the party\u2019s highest decision-making body, the National Executive Committee (NEC), giving clearance following the resignation of Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh, the elected parliamentary candidate for the party. He cited personal reasons for his decision.<\/p>\n

La Dade-Kotopon: Akufo-Addo\u2019s driver files nomination; poised to win April 27 primary<\/p>\n

This primary is among those that were rescheduled by the party from the original January 27 date on which the general primaries were held.<\/p>\n

In a press release dated April 19, 2024, the party wrote, \u201cThe New Patriotic Party (NPP) at its National Executive Committee meeting held on Tuesday April 9. 2024, passed the following resolutions in respect of the party\u2019s parliamentary primaries in the…outstanding constituencies in accordance with Article 12 of the Party Constitution:<\/p>\n

1. LA DADEKOTOPON<\/p>\n

The National Executive Committee agreed to open nominations for the conduct of parliamentary primaries in the constituency on account of the resignation of Dr. Joseph Gerald Tetteh Nyanyofio as parliamentary candidate.<\/p>\n

2. AKAN CONSTITUENCY<\/p>\n

The National Executive Committee agreed to open nominations for the conduct of parliamentary primaries in the constituency on account of the passing of the late parliamentary candidate, Hon. Amb. Rashid Bawa.<\/p>\n

3. AGONA WEST CONSTITUENCY<\/p>\n

The National Executive Committee agreed to reinstate Mr. Joseph Afankwah as an aspiring parliamentary candidate in the constituency primaries.<\/p>\n

4. EJISU CONSTITUENCY<\/p>\n

The National Executive Committee adopted the Report of the Ejisu Parliamentary Vetting Comminee to clear all nine(9) aspirants who have duly filed nominations to contest in the primaries.<\/p>\n
