Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), Nana Amoasi VII, has observed that President Akufo-Addo\u2019s assertions that the erratic power supply (dumsor) has been effectively resolved are misleading.<\/b><\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo, in his May Day address to workers in Accra yesterday [Wednesday, May 1], underscored that dumsor has been dealt with and he is confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return.<\/p>\n

But the energy expert, Nana Amoasi VII, cautioned the President in an interview with Citi FM on Wednesday, May 1, emphasising that his statements did not correspond with the real circumstances on the ground.<\/p>\n

He pointed out multiple locations, such as Weija, Ekumfi, Mankessim, Nungua, and Tema Community 2 and 25, that encountered power outages from Tuesday to Wednesday, along with some deficiencies in the power system.<\/p>\n

Nana Amoasi VII further noted the importance of the President\u2019s statements reflecting the actual situation rather than solely depending on his handlers\u2019 information.<\/p>\n

Expressing concern, he questioned the accuracy of the information provided to the President by his handlers regarding the ongoing power challenges.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Nana Amoasi VII highlighted the risk of the President\u2019s statements misleading the public about the real status of the country\u2019s power supply and urged him to exercise caution in his utterances.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first thing that we picked from the president\u2019s statement is that today he is admitting that under his tenure, there has been dumsor. And so he made it clear in his statement that the load shedding that we are seeing is probably normal…To say that the issues have been dealt with is misleading and we pray that the handlers of the president will rather lead him than mislead him.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes the president looks awful in the eyes of industry players, the watchers and even consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am sure any pronouncement that he made is contingent on what they tell him but he must be very careful because the handlers are not putting out what the issues are.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe value is the same. We\u2019ve just seen a bit of change last night but if the president says that yesterday we didn\u2019t experience dumsor anywhere around the country, that is untrue. I can recount some few places we have checked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
