Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is also a private legal practitioner, Kinglsey Amoakwa-Boadu, has dismissed claims by the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia are engaged in corruption.<\/b><\/p>\n

Sammy Gyamfi, basing his comments on the issues of former Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Cecilia Abena Dapaah, accused President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia of corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no way we can come to the bottom of this matter under this government. Corruption has fought them and defeated them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese leaders themselves are inherently corrupt which is why they cover up,\u201d Sammy Gyamfi said on Saturday, May 4.<\/p>\n

But commenting on the same show Kingsley Amoakwa-Boadu said it is not true that President Akufo-Addo cleared his officials.<\/p>\n

\u201cShould we also blame Mahama for the firmer CEO of MASLOC issue? he asked.<\/p>\n

He further stated that the 2024 election is between a person who has never been President before (Flagbearer of the NPP Dr Mahamudu Bawumia) and a person who has been before (Former President John Dramanai Mahama).<\/p>\n

He says Dr Bawumia will have 8 years to develop Ghana if he wins the elections, but Mr Mahama will have only four years.<\/p>\n

Out of the two, he said, Dr Bawumia is best placed to win the elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking at someone who has not been there before and his vision as against someone who has been before and has for four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe contest is about the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The discussions centered on the Office of the Attorney-General\u2019s advice to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) not to initiate any move to investigate money laundering in the dealings of the former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no basis for EOCO to seek A-G\u2019s advice \u2013 Senanu<\/p>\n

Upon a request for advice by EOCO on the matter, the Attorney-General\u2019s office, in a letter dated April 25, 2024, and copied to EOCO, said it found that the OSP did not submit the report on its collaborative investigation to EOCO.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the office noted the OSP has not responded to EOCO\u2019s request for its findings.<\/p>\n

According to the Attorney-General\u2019s office, the docket presented to EOCO only contains the OSP\u2019s letter transmitting the docket, the diary of action, statements taken during the investigation, and letters written by the OSP to other institutions like the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and banks for inquiries.<\/p>\n
