Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Chair of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament James Kluste Avedzi has expressed concern about the failure to act on its recommendations for prosecution by the Office of the Attorney-General (A-G).<\/b><\/p>\n

The PAC has been making referrals for prosecution but it appears no action has been taken on them.<\/p>\n

For instance, last year, the committee referred the Registrar General\u2019s Department to the Attorney-General (A-G) for prosecution for breach of the procurement process.<\/p>\n

But Mr Avedzi says someone in government has deliberately refused his or her job to get the persons prosecuted.<\/p>\n

Public Accounts C\u2019ttee needs powers to arrest persons who speak falsehood before the committee \u2013 Avedzi<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview on the Hot Issues on Sunday, May 5, he stated that this is one of the challenges faced by the Committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the recommendations we make for people to be prosecuted for procurement breaches don\u2019t get transmitted to the Attorney-General for action. I think somebody is intentionally not doing his work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
